Module 6 Publisher

The assignment of creating items using publisher was different from what we have been doing.  I liked working with publisher even though this was my first time.  I had to borrow a laptop from work in order to complete the assignments.  The only issues I ran into were trying to create a door knob menu, I had to use a postcard document and change the format to make it look like a door knob menu.  The program I had to work with didn't seem to have a lot of templates to assist you with the projects, but I did what I thought was correct.  I think I did okay on this assignment.  I would like to purchase publisher to have at home.

Module 5 Microsoft Expression

Back to the blog.  I am have finally created my first web site.  This was something that I have wanted to know how to do.  Even though I think I could have done a better job, I am pleased to say that I did it.  I have never worked with a web site until this semester.  I must say that it was interesting viewing the tutorials and then trying create my own.  The topic of my website was the Cricket.  Crickets are noisy, but interesting little creatures that can be quite amazing.  I did learn some new things about crickets.  Maybe I will be able to create another website after I have more practice with working with Microsoft Expression.

Module 4 video

Module 4

Hello and welcome back to my blogspot.  I have been working on my powerpoint using Camtasia and SnagIt and it has been a learning experience.  I have never had the opportunity to work with either software, but I have had instructors that posted videos for viewing with Camtasia.  As for SnagIt, I have often wondered how people were able to do things like are available with SnagIt.  Technology truly amazes me and scares me too.  I will be the first to admit that I am hesitant when working with new programs.  I'm always afraid I will mess something up.  Using these two programs was an educational experience and I am looking forward to learning more about them, because there are things that I still don't know how to do.  I am still learning how to blog as well.  I just can't seem to get the videos I create to post to my blog, maybe I will get it figured out.
Have a good week!

SnagIt and Camtasia

This module has gave me some insight on two new Softwares that I haven't ever used.  I have heard of SnagIt and seen videos from an instructor using Camtasia, but as for myself, it is all new.  I think it is very interesting.  Camtasia reminds me of MovieMaker which I have used.  I guess I will be finding out how similar the two are as I continue to work on my assignment.

Blog Update

Hello,

Just following up with my blog.  This past week I have been working on my PowerPoint presentation.  The tutorials and reading was helpful.  The tutorials helped me to have a better understanding about some of the features in PowerPoint that I haven't worked with a lot.  I have worked with PowerPoint in the past, but this time it was a little different because of all the details that were required in the presentation.  I enjoyed working on the PowerPoint, but got a little worried when I couldn't figure out how to include my YouTube video.  I think I finally figured it out.  I am looking forward to our next module.  I am not sure is going on with my video, but I have tried over and over again to insert it.  Maybe I'll get it right sometime.

Module 2 Blog update

Hello everyone,

Still figuring blogging out.  I'm not that comfortable with this, but I'm still learning and that is what this class is all about.  I'm enjoying this class and looking forward to learning new things.  The book The Design of Everyday Things is interesting and I can relate to some of the information discussed in the readings.  We think that since something doesn't work when we are using it, we are automatically at fault or I do.  Reading this book has helped me to realize that not everything is my fault, but could be related to the design of the product.  The phone system topic was also interesting because I have found myself leary of using things just because it was different and I was scared that I might mess something up.  I feel that by taking this class, I will be more open with learning how things work and not feeling that it something doesn't work just right, that is automatically my fault.
